It most definitely is, and it’s also heavy, painfully expensive, and looks a little goofy, too.īut holy crap, is the ride quality amazing. Specialized says it’s good for 30 mm of travel, and it’s even controlled by a dedicated oil damper. Specialized has now taken the concept to the extreme with the new Diverge STR flagship gravel bike, essentially turning its entire seat tube into a flexible seatpost. As a result, seatposts have been trending smaller in diameter and longer in effective length, and often with purposeful shaping. It’s long been common knowledge that the bulk of a bike’s rear end compliance – tires notwithstanding – is due to seatpost flex.
